This work is from a series of paintings, drawings and prints based on photographs snapped from car window during road trips around country New South Wales.

Although I use photographs as a reference point for compositions, in the prints I am also exploring the creation of a type of shorthand for capturing elements of the landscape and using memory to create, sometimes, abstracted images. I am also interested is using the "memory" that is retained in plates. I often recycle old plates and work with the 'noise' that is left behind from subtracting and adding of marks in their various states.

The intention of my work is to capture glimpses of the landscape: fleeting glimpses, isolation, endless lines of telegraph poles, lamp posts and electricity wires disappearing into the unknown distance; roads fading to nowhere; a solitary vehicle or tree. These glimpses ask the viewer to consider what lies ahead or beyond.
