A great course for people with limited art experience who seek to learn the fundamental skills of drawing and painting.
Taking a traditional approach with technical exercises as well as drawing from still life and reference images, this course will teach you basic drawing skills step by step. Learn about form, tone, perspective and negative space, using a variety of mediums including charcoal, pencil and ink. Explore fun drawing exercises that unlock the right side of the brain.
You will also be introduced to painting. Starting with monochromatic paintings of simple still life objects, you will learn methods of applying paint as well as how to create light, shade and volume in your paintings. Students will then progress to painting with colour (using a limited palette), concentrating on colour theory, colour mixing, transparency and uses of complimentary colours in painting.
